Description of Tool:

Glogster is an online tool that allows students to create an online poster using images, videos and audio clips.

How does tool apply to your curricular area?

Students can illustrate their knowledge of a historical topic and show off their creative skills by using this tool. This tool can allow students to effectively reorganize different historical media into one interactive poster. For example if students were responsible for creating a glog on slavery in the US they could create a glog with images of slave life, an audio recording of a slave spiritual song, and a PBS video clip on slavery.

Where does tool fit in Digital Blooms and why?

This tool fits into the Creating level of New Blooms Taxonomy because it requires students to reorganize information they've already seen in order to create the Glog. They can put together a variety of images, video and audio clips in order to create one presentation. The final result is essentially an online, interactive poster that students generate and produce.

Extras: Glogster is a type of Social Media thus it offers the "Glogster.Edu" version when students log into Glogster with an email address ending in "edu." Because of this safety feature students using Glogster.Edu will not have access to inappropriate content. The Glogster.Edu page is slightly limited in accessory feathers and is more streamlined towards school themed assignments.
